Sweets v/s Prasad

Today I opened the TV in the morning, there was a quiz program going on from a Holy person.

A person asked, “Why do we offer food or sweets to God?”

“Whatever we offer to God, what does God eat? What do we drink?”

“Is there any change in the appearance, color, taste or quantity of the substance we offer?”

“If not, then why do we do this deed? Isn’t this hypocrisy?”

“If this is hypocrisy, why should we indulge in the hypocrisy of indulgence?”

My curiosity had also increased that perhaps the questioner has surrounded the holy person so badly, see what answers he gives.

But the holy person did not get upset at all.

With a very calm mind and in polite voice, he started answering.

They said

“It is a matter to understand that when we offer food to the God, what he takes from it.”

“Suppose you are going to a temple, a church or any holy place with sweets to offer God and on the way someone you know meets and asks what this is?”

“Then you tell him it’s a sweet.”

“Then he asks whose is it?”

“Then you say it’s mine.”

Then when you put the same confectionery at the feet of the God and dedicate it to him and take it to the house, and then also you find someone else who knows you and asks what is it?

“Then you say it is Prasad.”

“Then he asks whose is it?”

“Then you say that it belongs to God.”

“Now the thing to understand is that the sweets are the same.”

“There is no difference in its color or taste, so what did the God take out of it that changed its name.”

“Indeed the God took away the arrogance of man.”

“The feeling of this is mine; the ego was lost as soon as I surrendered it at the feet of the God.”

“By offering food to the God, a man becomes humble in nature. A clean and pure mind without ego becomes of mind.”

“Therefore it cannot be called hypocrisy.”

“It’s psychology.”

I was overwhelmed to hear such a beautiful answer and this answer made my day.

Many salutes to all the holy persons around us, who take us away from ignorance and illuminate us with the light of knowledge.
